Ann Hess Pottery is designed to give pleasure to the eye and hand, tested in my kitchen and home for function, and durability. My degrees in chemistry inform glaze formulations from primary sources.  All are lead and barium free.  

 

Solar panels provide power to fire my mid-range stoneware in an electric kiln. My delight in clay started when my elementary age sons were introduced to clay. I enjoy collaborating to expand product and design ideas.  

 

Customers, workshops, colleagues and travel continue to enrich my explorations.  I am a juried member of the Artisan Center of Virginia and a founding member of the Blue Ridge Potters Guild. Signature work includes:  pig banks, advent wreaths, and tableware.
